The chinstrap penguin (Pygoscelis antarctica) inhabits the Southern Ocean and occupies colonies on the rocky shores of Antarctic and sub-Antarctic Islands. Its name derives from the black band under its head which makes it appear as if it were wearing a helmet with a chinstrap.
