The Adélie Penguin (Pygoscelis adeliae) is among the southernmost bird species on Earth with a range restricted to the coastline of Antarctica. They are named after Adèle Dumont D'Urville, the wife of French explorer Jules Dumont d'Urville who discovered these penguins in 1840.
